Jinkx Monsoon Joins the Cast of 'Chicago' on Broadway

"I cannot stress enough that this has been a lifelong dream of mine."

"All That Jazz?" More like All That Jinkx!

This morning (Nov. 22) it was announced that RuPaul's Drag Race Season 5 and All Stars Season 7 winner Jinkx Monsoon will make her Broadway debut as Matron ‘Mama’ Morton in the long-running hit musical revival, Chicago. Jinkx becomes the first drag queen to play the role on Broadway.

"I cannot stress enough that this has been a lifelong dream of mine," Jinkx told EW. "To be making my Broadway debut, as my favorite role, in one of my favorite shows — that lifelong dream is coming true and then some. The first number I performed in drag was 'All That Jazz,' so this feels almost too serendipitous. But, I never question my blessings, I just thank Hecate for them."

Jinkx is just the latest celebrity to join the cast of Chicago. Angelica Ross recently ended her run as Roxie Hart in the revival, becoming the first openly trans woman to play a leading role on Broadway.

This has been a busy year for the "card-carrying witch." Not only was Jinkx crowned the winner of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 7, but she also starred in a new comedy series, Sketchy Queens, on WOW Presents Plus, released an EP: The Virgo Odyssey: Prologue and she is currently on tour with BenDeLaCreme for their annual holiday show.

Jinkx's 8-week limited engagement in Chicago will kick off on Monday, January 16, 2023, and runs through Sunday, March 12.

Here's to Hecate!
